On the occasion of the Mid-Sha’ban festivities, IAU hosted a two- day, men’s single, table tennis tournament on May 31 and June 1 in the Knowledge Village Campus.
Thirty nine participants from among the current students, professors, the alumni, and the staffers of the Iranian institutions and organizations in the UAE lined up at the tables to racket in eight groups selected by a raffle draw on May 28 in the attendance of the IAU-UAE Branch chancellor, Dr. Mohammadreza Shahriari.
Once the qualifying games of the first day were completed, the top two players of each group matched up against one another in play-offs.
Mr. Kamran Adl, a teacher from Towhid Boys School in Dubai managed to win all of his opponents netting the first rank. Mehdi Maarfavi, an IAU student, and Morteza Yazdanpanah, a former computer student of IAU stood at second and third place, respectively.
The top three sportsmen were awarded certificates and credit gift cards by the Vice-chancellor for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Dr. Mohammadali Shafiei.
The event was splendidly received by the students and created a vivacious ambience at the tournament venue.
